Book fair in Perungudi

 



A book fair has opened in Perungudi, OMR Road.


The chief guest at the inauguration was well-known writer Manushyaputhiran.

Also present were poet Balabharathi and scientist T. R. Govindarajan.


Books priced from Rs.35 to Rs.2000 are on sale here.


Various types of books are on sale - Thamizh, Hindi and English literature, children’s books, cookery, history and more.

This centre in Kannagi Nagar offers 'skills' courses for women. Free.

  Muthal Thalaimurai Learning Center is in Kannagi Nagar, Okkiyam Thuraipakkam.   It was opened by V. Iraianbu, chief secretary of Tamil Nadu.   It has been opened for the sake of women's empowerment.  Here, driving classes, beauty-care training and sari embroidery classes are held. There are no fees.   Students are from the age of 18 to 37 years can sign up.   The classes are held in the morning shift and in the evening shift. 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and 1.30 to 5.30 p.m. - Monday to Saturday.  Physically disabled students can also register here.   - By Sneha E.
