In Kottur, cadres of DMK mark birth centenary of Karunanidhi in simple way



An event by the DMK party unit in Kottur to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi was  was canceled on June 3. 

This followed the DMK party’s decision to cancel these events due to the rail accident tragedy in Orissa.

In Kottur, R. Narasimhan, DMK’s area representative said that party people here have celebrated Karunanidhi's birth anniversary every year.

This year, they planned to serve food. But due to the cancellation, a simple event was held.

The party unit set up a decorated montage with a large picture of Karunanidhi and decorated it with garlands. This was set up on Peeliamman Koil Street 

They said a short prayer and gave sweets to people.

Kumbhabhishekam of Kottur temple in January 2024.

  The kumbhabhishekam of Kottur Prasana Venkatesh Perumal Temple is going to be held on January 2024. It will be on for three days. The temple staff say that this temple is over 1000 years old. They said that this place called Kottur was once called as Kottu idai konda ooru. During the repair work in the temple, people can come and worship the god in balalayam.   The chief executive of the temple is Narayani.
