This centre in Kannagi Nagar offers 'skills' courses for women. Free.

 




Muthal Thalaimurai Learning Center is in Kannagi Nagar, Okkiyam Thuraipakkam.


 It was opened by V. Iraianbu, chief secretary of Tamil Nadu. 


It has been opened for the sake of women's empowerment. 


Here, driving classes, beauty-care training and sari embroidery classes are held. There are no fees. 


Students are from the age of 18 to 37 years can sign up. 


The classes are held in the morning shift and in the evening shift. 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and 1.30 to 5.30 p.m. - Monday to Saturday. 


Physically disabled students can also register here.

This store is busy as school re-opening draws near

  Blahi Stationary Store on Lloyds Road has been a busy place as students begin to go back to school. Shop owner K.M. Mohammad Farooq said that there has been a high demand for items like lunch bag (Rs.49), school bags sold at Rs.300 and water bottles sold at Rs.30.    This store also sells long notebooks, record notes and charts.  For school students, products like wrapping paper, pens, pencils and ruled notebooks are on sale.
